This article explains how to set up options such as oral exam configuration, auto submission, marking 2.0, Candidate report, anonymization, and specific test type designations like Thesis or Grading only.

Test settings explainedThis presentation was a part of Inspera Seminar 2020. It walks you through all test settings in Inspera. |
General settings
This category encompasses a range of core settings that impact the overall behavior and display of your test for candidates and Graders. These options help tailor the test to specific assessment needs beyond the standard setup.
Test options
-
This setting should only be enabled if the test is fully oral, as candidates will not be able to interact with the test digitally. If this setting is enabled, the question set you use can only contain the Oral question type.
For more information on authoring an Oral Exam, refer to the Author an Oral Exam article.)
-
On tests without Safe Exam Browser (typically home exams), the Planner can enable auto submission. The test will then automatically submit when the closing time is reached for each candidate. Until then, candidates can change their submission an unlimited number of times.
For more details on auto submission, refer to the Auto Submission article.

This option is available for some customers and does not have any practical impact other than marking the submission as a "Master thesis" or "Bachelor thesis" in the API output.

The purpose of this setting is to register student responses that originate from outside of Inspera Assessment (e.g., handwritten answers that are scanned). It can also be used for simply recording a grade that can then be transferred to external systems via integrations or API exports.
- If this setting is enabled, students will not be able to respond in Inspera Assessment, as it is purely for recording responses from other sources. Graders and Planners will still be able to view the candidate list within the grading module.
- Explanations are also supported for this test type, meaning candidates can log in and read any explanations as soon as they are sent by the Planner or Grader. It is currently not possible to share the grade with the candidate without also sending an explanation.
- For more information see the article on Explanations of grades.
- Previously, candidates were not added to the marking tool before a grade was imported via Excel when using this feature. Candidates are now automatically added to the marking tool (applies to Marking 2.0).
- Candidates will be flagged by a warning if idle for more then 10 minutes during a test.
Marking 2.0
-
We recommend using Marking 2.0 as the primary grading tool in Inspeara Assessment. It's designed to streamline the grading workflow for Graders and Planners by providing a more intuitive and structured workspace.
Candidate report
-
Allow candidates to review the candidate report. This is only available if Marking 2.0 is enabled.
For more information, refer to the Enable candidate report article.
Anonymization
-
This feature requires activation.
- It is visible if your test is connected to an external system or if you set up the test to assign candidates using a test code.
- Enabling non-anonymous candidates will show the real names of the candidates for all Planners, Graders, and Invigilators throughout the test.
- For more information, please see Non-anonymous candidates - before test.
