Creating an oral exam

  • Updated

Creating an oral exam in Inspera Assessment involves configuring specific test settings and creating a dedicated question set. This article explains how to set up an oral exam and details the requirements for the question set used in oral, which can also be used for practical tests.

Create a question set

Inspera Assessment has an Oral question type specifically for oral examinations where the candidate does not submit a digital product. Using this question type allows the Planner to digitally manage all test aspects, including distributing video conference links and instructions to candidates and markers, handling candidates, and providing feedback.

To prepare a question set for an oral test:

  1. Create a question set.
  2. Add one or more questions of the Oral question type to that question set.

A question set for an oral test cannot include other question types. It must contain only Oral type questions. If you accidentally choose a question set with different question types, you will receive a message about this.

Candidates will not log in to Inspera Assessment for this assessment type, as their interaction is primarily oral or physical.

Setting up the oral exam

Oral exams are set up in a similar way to other tests in Inspera Assessment. The key difference lies in activating the Oral exam setting during the test setup phase and using a specific question type.

  1. To create an oral exam, begin by pressing Create new test in the Deliver module, just as you would for any other test.
  2. During the test setup, under General settings, ensure the Oral exam choice is ticked.

Setting up a practical test

The Oral question type can also be used for setting up a practical test. Using this question type allows a Planner to digitally manage all test aspects, including distributing instructions to candidates and markers, handling candidates, and providing feedback. The candidate is not required to submit a digital product.
