Inspera Resilience Proctoring (IRP) is Inspera's proctoring solution and works in unison with the browser lockdown, Inspera Integrity Browser (IIB). When enabling IRP, you can choose from a variety of proctoring options such as video, record, screen, and room.
This article explains how to enable IRP on a test, and the different test options available.
Step 1: Enable Inspera Integrity Browser
- In the Delivery module, create or select a test.
- In the Test setup, navigate to the Security options.
- Select Safe Exam Browser for PC and Mac.
-
Click on Advanced options and select Enable Inspera Integrity Browser.
- Set your Invigilator Password and SEB Password.
- Choose a Security Policy. Select the Security Policy drop-down menu for the following options:
- Strict
- Moderate
- Open
- None
- To enable Assistive Technologies in Moderate, click Enable Assistive Technologies.
If candidates have multiple tests that they need to complete simultaneously, it is recommended that you do not choose the option Automatically close lockdown browser when test is completed. If candidates have other tests in their dashboard they can access, they will be able to take those while in IIB.
Step 2: Enable Inspera Resilience Proctoring
- To activate record and review proctoring, select Inspera Resilience Proctoring Enabled
-
Select a Recording options; Video, Audio, Screen, or Room.
The permissible combinations are:
- Video only
- Screen only *
- Video and Screen
- Video and Audio
- Screen and Audio
- Video, screen, and audio (default)
- Room and Video only *
- Room, Screen and Video
-
Room, Video and Audio
- Room, Video, Audio and Screen
* When Screen only is enabled for automated proctoring, the following steps in IIB flow are disabled to not require access to the camera and microphone:
- Camera/Mic page
- Photo page
- ID page
* Room recording option needs to be enabled along with at least the Video recording option.
Room Recording option
Currently, the system allows students to proceed to the test even if the room scan is partial. The proctoring interface does not currently display a clear indicator regarding the quality or completeness of a room scan. At present, determining whether a student has completed a fully compliant room scan requires manual review of recordings.
- A pre-test Room Scan has been introduced as an option in Inspera Resilience Proctoring. Enabling the room recording option asks the candidates to capture their room environment as part of the proctoring setup. It requires IIB version 1.16.7 and above.
-
With the introduction of Room Scan, the existing audio and video verifications, and the photo and ID checks have also been updated. The process remains the same, but the appearance of the screen has changed.
The following table shows the difference between these checks before and the updated Video, Audio, Photo, and ID checks: Video, Audio, Photo, ID checks before Room Scan Updated Video, Audio, Photo, ID checks Before taking the photo

In Deliver>Test, Fully Automated ID verification option has to be enabled under ID Verification. By default, if the photo and ID don't match 90% or more, candidate will not be enabled to proceed ahead.
Through a service desk request, you can change this to allow the candidate to proceed even if the 90% threshold has not been met.-
ID verification Fully automated ID verification needs to be explicitly enabled while setting up the test. The video recording option needs to be enabled along with ID verification option.
- The room recording option needs activation. Enabling room scan will also update the audio-video verifications, Photo, and ID checks.
- The FPS resolution for the proctored video made available in Monitor has been increased to 15 FPS with this flow.
Note: You can also activate only the enhanced FPS for the proctored video without the room recording option as well.
This needs activation. This is only available with the updated audio-video verification, Photo and ID check flow.
This needs IIB version 1.16.7 or any version above it.
You can see the latest available IIB version here.
Explanation of test options
Candidate sign-in options
When creating a sign-in option for candidates, you can pick one of the following options:
It is not possible to choose a combination of the two sign-ins per test, or across separate tests. Sign-in options are currently decided within the tenant level and not on the test level, it is not possible to combine sign-in options at this time.
Security options
- When Safe Exam Browser for PC and Mac is enabled, you will need to set the following passwords:
- Invigilator password: The Invigilator password cannot exceed 8 characters.
- SEB password: Also known to candidates as the SEB Pin, can be a maximum of 8 characters containing at least one letter and number. Other language characters than English are not supported, only printable ASCII characters.
-
A Security Policy determines how strict the lockdown outcome is for candidates, and how the monitoring outcome behaves in the lockdown browser (IIB). You can choose between four different Security Policies:
- Strict
- Moderate
- Open
- None
To learn more about each Security Policy and how it interacts with monitoring and the lockdown browser, go to the Security Policies page.
-
This is a useful option if there are several wifi networks at your location. If the candidate loses connection to a wifi network, they can switch to another wifi without leaving IIB.
Note that because of different limitations on MacOS and Windows, they can behave differently depending on whether the candidates use IIB on Mac or on a Windows computer.
- Mac: The candidate can change freely between all available wifi networks.
- Windows: The wifi network must be known to the computer, meaning that the candidate must have been connected to it before. Only known wifi networks will appear in the network list within SEB.
Accessibility options
Using screen readers throughout the test is made possible by enabling Assistive Technologies.
The following screen readers are allowed with Assistive technologies:
- Narrator
- VoiceOver
- JAWS
The option to Enable Assistive Technologies is only available in the Moderate Security Policy. In the Open and None Security Policy, assistive technologies are automatically available for candidates to utilize. In the Strict Security Policy, assistive technologies are ignored.
