This article explains the Planner and Author experience in Chromebook. It covers the Planner's settings for creating a test on a Chromebook, details the Author's necessary security requirements, and outlines the workflow for adding external links and media.
Planner experience in Chromebook
Select the "Inspera Locked browser for Chromebooks" checkbox in Deliver >Test to create a test to be taken only on Chromebooks.
Author experience in Chromebook
This section describes how Authors can set up questions for a test taken on a Chromebook. The process is similar to creating tests for open browsers and IIB.
See this article to understand how Authors can add questions for a test to be taken on a Chromebook.
Chromebook PWA security requirements
-
External links: The Chromebook PWA has stricter Content Security Policies that may block external links that normally load in a regular web browser.
Some URLs added as Additional resources on a question set level might not load for a candidate. Authors can use this tool to see whether the URL will load for the candidate or not.
-
Navigation: A candidate is able to navigate to external links found within the attached URL. Authors must look at the original URL to see if it has additional resources listed on it.
This is important because the candidate can follow those internal links.
-
Audio: For Audio Record question types, the devices used for the test must be whitelisted in the Google Admin console due to security restrictions.
Check this page to see how to perform the whitelisting or contact your IT department for assistance.
Adding a URL
Add a URL through Add Link in Author > Editor UI.
-
If an Author uses the target types New window, frame, or popup window to add a link in a question, the link will not open for the candidate. Instead, the link will be blocked (act like a dummy link). This is the same behavior as in legacy applications.
-
If an Author uses target types such as Topmost window, same window, or parent window to add a link, the URL opens in fullscreen, on top of the test. The candidate must click the physical back button on the Chromebook, and the Invigilator must enter the invigilator password for the candidate to resume the test.
The image is the candidate view of the 3 URLs with different target type. Any of the three URLs will open in full-screen mode as seen above.
