Manually marked question. The question is answered by uploading a file. |
The Upload Assignment question type allows candidates to answer a question prompt by uploading a file, typically created in external software like Excel or Word.
This article explains the layout of Upload Assignment questions, details important considerations for file uploads, and outlines customization settings for permitted file types.
Important considerations for File Uploads
- Default File Size Limit: The default file size limit for uploads is 1 GB. If your assignments require a larger limit, please contact the Service Desk to increase it for your institution.
- Internet Connection: This question type does not save if there is a loss of connection to the internet during a test. It is highly recommended that candidates reupload their assignment once an internet connection is re-established to ensure their work is submitted.
- Handling Large Files: If you are using this question type for large files and the upload does not finish before the end of the test, it is possible to allow uploads of files that started before the test's end time to complete. Contact the Service Desk to have this option enabled for your institution.
Question layout
In the question's edit mode, you can do the following:
- Replace text with desired question text.
- Add math (LaTex), files, tables, links, PDF, images and / or audio clips to the question text.
- Set general options for the question type. Read more about General options for questions.
Spesific options
Clicking on the interaction element (the upload area) provides access to specific options unique to the Upload Assignment question type:
- Write an explanation text for the question. The text will appear in the workspace. "Upload your file here. Maximum one file" is set by default.
- You can choose which file types are allowed for candidates to upload.
- To customize which files types should be allowed, uncheck Allow all files types.
-
Select from the suggested file types provided, or define custom file type.
All file types are generally acceptable. The file type field is not case-sensitive; adding ".png" will allow both ".png" and ".PNG" files.
- An External Identifier is a unique string that helps link the question to external systems for data collection, without serving any internal purpose in Inspera Assessment.
