Available for Author.
The author can decide the design settings of a question set by choosing "Design" at the bottom of the question set in edit mode.
Note: These settings can be overwritten by the planner in test settings. If the author and planner are not the same person, the planner might edit these settings according to own guidelines.
This will display a preview of the question set, along with different options in the panel at the right side.
The right side panel will first list meta information - time and date for last update, number of questions and max score. After that, there are several options for how you want the test to be displayed for the students. These options also allow you to add or remove some functionality for the students. This article will describe the different options.
Numbering Scheme: This determines how the navigaton bar will be displayed. For question sets with sections, this can be a useful setting for giving the candidates a better overview of different sections. Three options are available.
In case there are many questions in a sequential numbering scheme, the question numbers will be hidden. They are instead available in mouseover.
Hide navigation bar: This will hide the bar shown in the previous step. The candidate will still have the option to navigate back and forward in the test, and if table of contents is enabled, the candidate can also use this to navigate
Disable navigate back button: If you want to prevent the candidates from revisiting a previous question, you can enable this option. It is important to also hide navigation bar and table of contents, if these are active the candidate can navigate using these instead.
Table of contents: Shows a table of content as the first page of the test. It will also be available on the navigation bar for easy access.
Hide question titles: Some authors use question names that are not intended for the candidates. If that is the case, this option will hide the question names for the candidates.
Show sections in table of contents: If the question set consists of several sections, this option will determine whether the candidate can see the section names in the table of contents. This is generally recommended for table of contents.
Enable flagging: This will show a small clickable flag at the top of each question. The purpose is to give the candidates a method of flagging questions the might want to review before they submit. If the candidate flags a question, the flag will display at the corresponding position on the navigation bar.
Allow candidates to highlight section text: This option is not standard and requires activation. Contact Service Desk for more details.
This option allows the candidates to highlight text in the section document. The question set must be set up to use a section layout with stimulus for this to have any practical use. Text in the question itself or in a PDF will not be possible to highlight.
Question maximum marks: This will display the maximum marks for each question. The candidate cannot check their own answer before submitting, the check answer function is only available for the author for verification purposes.
