Question assignment allows you to individually assign questions within a test to specific graders. This function creates a more flexible way to let graders divide their workflow, for example, assigning all essays to a certain grader.

Enabling Question assignment
- This option is available for Planners
To start: Add your grader(s). Within Grading workflow, you can choose the option to assign individual graders to questions on tests. This feature requires two precursors (1) Marking 2.0 checked (2) Shared marking checked.
(1) General Settings > Enable Marking 2.0 on this test
(2) Grading workflow > Shared marking > Enable question assignment
Under Grader permissions, the first pull down menu gives you the option to decide the types of permissions you are going to give your graders:
- Graders can view and mark all questions
- Graders can view all questions, but only mark own questions
- Grader can only view and mark own questions
Second, you have the option to pick who has control over the grading assignment:
- Only planners can assign questions
- Graders can assign and re-assign questions
The Grader permission can also be adjusted per committee in the committee workflow setting.

Questions page layout
- Question assignment is available within the option menu: Options > Question Assignment
- Existing question assignment can be viewed in the Questions workspace which is available for both planners and graders: Workspaces > Questions
- The Questions page will open and you will be presented with the following information:
- Number - This is the number of the question
- Question name - This is the question's name
- Question type - This is the type of question (multiple choice, essay, etc.)
- Assignee - This is who the question is to be assigned to
- Maximum marks - This is the maximum marks on the question
- The Show filters and search, columns, and the Options Icon to further customize your page
- Let's take a look at the Options icon. Here, you can add and edit lists which allow you to define custom filters.
- Within the Questions workspace, you are able to reach the Settings / Question assignment interface by selecting the (...) icon > Edit assignee.
To assign questions:
- In the question assignment interface, you can assign one or more graders under Assignee by selecting from the dropdown that prompts you with graders you can choose from. A question that is unassigned will be considered viewable and mark-able by all graders.
- Your question assignments will not take effect until you select the blue prompt to Update. If for any reason you need to leave the Settings page before updating, the settings page will save your assignees as a draft.
- Planners can also edit permissions by selecting on Delivery Setup. Selecting Delivery Setup will take you back to the main Authoring page.
Grader markup view:
- Graders can view and mark all questions
- The Marking tool will appear normal. You have the permissions to view and grade all questions.

- You can see within the right-side marking panel, questions that are assigned to you. Questions that are not assigned to you will prompt you with insufficient permissions.

- The marking tool will appear normal. You can only see and mark the questions assigned to you, so the question numbering scheme may be segmented.
