This page is written for institutions that are either existing Inspera customers or are considering implementing Inspera.

If you are a candidate, please refer to your institution’s own guidance on taking an assessment using the Inspera platform.  Your institution may impose different requirements to our minimum specification.

The minimum system requirements depend on which configuration of Inspera you are using:

    • Inspera Assessment (open book, no lockdown or proctoring)
    • Inspera Assessment with Inspera Integrity Browser (Lockdown with or without proctoring)
    • Inspera Assessment or an LMS with Inspera Recorded, Record & Review and Live Proctoring
    • Inspera Assessment with Safe Exam Browser (Lockdown using SEB)

Content

Inspera Assessment with Inspera Integrity Browser & Inspera Resilience Proctoring

Warning: MacOS 14 Users on Versions Below 1.15.12

The use of Inspera Integrity Browser, with versions below 1.15.12 in conjunction with MacOS 14 has been identified to cause screen flickering issues. To resolve this issue, please reach out to the Service Desk to update to the latest version.

Lockdown with or without proctoring (Inspera Proctoring)

Inspera Assessment can be combined with Inspera Integrity Browser (IIB), an in-house application that provides a lockdown environment to prevent candidates from accessing anything else on the computer for the duration of their assessment.  As a further option, Inspera Proctoring can be used in record & review.  Inspera Integrity Browser is only available for Windows and macOS.

Inspera Inspera Integrity Browser minimum requirements

  • Windows: 7, 8.1, 10 and 11 on 64-bit platforms
Note: Support for Windows 7 and 8.1 are discontinued from IIB version 1.14.19.
  • macOS: MacOS 10.15 to 13.6
Note: Minimum requirement is macOS Big Sur (version 11) and higher from IIB 1.15.0. Mac OS Sequoia official support is pending
  • OpenGL 2.0 graphics driver
  • CPUs newer than 2011 (Intel Sandy Bridge (Core i3, i5, and i7) or newer)
  • Minimum SSE 4.2 in AMD processors and CPU
  • A broadband internet connection (0.15Mbps upload speed)
  • A working internet connection during installation so that the configuration file can be downloaded

Inspera Resilience Proctoring minimum requirements

  • Windows: 7, 8.1, 10 and 11 on 64-bit platforms
Note: Support for Windows 7 and 8.1 are discontinued from IIB version 1.14.19
  • macOS: MacOS 10.15 to 13.6
Note: Minimum requirement is macOS Big Sur (version 11) and higher from IIB 1.15.0.
  • CPUs newer than 2011 (Intel Sandy Bridge (Core i3, i5, and i7) or newer)
  • 75 MB of free storage space per hour
  • Web camera & microphone (internal or external)
  • A broadband internet connection (0.15Mbps upload speed)

Depending on the security settings implemented by the institution for each test, candidates may be required to have Admin rights. For instance, Administrator permission is needed for IIB in Strict lockdown mode to install and launch IIB, as well as to restart, stop, or start IIB in case it is interrupted.

Note: If you are running a Windows machine and want to install and run a different configuration than the existing IIB version and configuration, IIB first needs to be uninstalled, then reinstalled.
