Psychometrics Dashboard - 6. Average Time Per Question

Understanding how students allocate their time during a test is crucial for assessing its effectiveness. This graph provides a detailed view of the average time spent on each question, complementing the 'Students response trends' analysis by revealing potential time management challenges.

This graph presents the average time, measured in seconds, that students spent answering each question in the assessment. A bar chart visually displays this data, while an accompanying table lists the average duration for each question. The 'Avg duration (seconds)' metric represents the mean time taken across all students who were exposed to a particular question.

This visualization allows for:

  • Evaluation of time spent on each question: Identifying questions where students spend significantly more or less time.
  • Identification of questions requiring disproportionate time: Highlighting potential issues with question clarity, complexity, or length.

The data is ordered sequentially by question number, mirroring the test's structure. When viewed alongside the 'Students response trends' graph, this analysis offers a comprehensive understanding of student behaviour, revealing whether time constraints or question difficulty influenced response patterns, such as question skipping or incomplete sections.
