This is available for Invigilators.
The Timed out warning in the Monitor module signals that a candidate has reached their test's end time without submitting.
This article explains when the warning is triggered, shows you how to view the warning, and details its known limitations.
The feature is currently in Open Beta.
Understanding the Time out warning
Invigilators may need to check which candidates were active during a test but did not submit. This is because auto-submit is not possible on lockdown tests using SEB or Inspera Integrity Browser (previously Inspera Exam Portal), and candidates are sent to the summary page at the end of the test.
An Invigilator can create a filter that combines a candidate's progress status and the timed out warning to get an overview. This lets them follow up with candidates who have timed out and not submitted.
Note that this is an administrative warning and does not show any issues with a candidate's network connection.
When is the Timed out warning triggered
The warning is triggered when a candidate's end time is reached, or the test duration has run out. This includes any extra time that was given. The end time can be either the overall test end time or an individual deadline that was set for the candidate.
How to view the Timed out warning
Within the Monitor module, you can selectively view details of the candidate who have timed out but have not submitted the test.
-
Go to the Deliver module.
Open the specific test.
Click View all to open the candidate list.
Click Filters.
Select the Progress (status) filter.
-
Select every field, except Submitted, in the progress state filter.
-
While still in the filter menu, click on the Warning filter.
-
Select Timed out.
-
You can now view the Timed out warning under the Warnings column.
Known limitations
- The warning will generally not be available when auto submission is enabled on the test. However, if the auto submit setting is set to allow the candidates to submit once during the test window, the warning may still show in Monitor.
- The warning will not be available when the candidate has been opened for resubmission.
