Grader workflow - Align Marks

Available for Planner and Grader

Inspera Assessment supports improved quality in Grading workflow by enforcing agreement on numerical marks per question before the final grade can be confirmed. 

This feature requires activation. Contact Inspera Service Desk to activate.

Overview of functionality

When more than one grader is grading a submission, the Planner can choose the option to Require graders to align marks. When this option is selected, graders are required to set the same mark on each response to be able to confirm final grading.

 

How to enable Require graders to align marks

To enable this functionality, open the test in Deliver module.

  1. Navigate to Options > Grading workflow.
  2. Click Require graders to align marks.

Note: This test setting can only be changed up until grading starts. Once the grading starts, the setting can no longer be changed.

 

Grader guide

Step 1: Share

  1. To share your marks and grades with co-graders, in the upper menu, click Share.
  2. The Grader Workflow page will open. To share with co-graders, click Share with co-graders now.
  3. A success message will show, indicating that it has been shared successfully.
    • To unshare your marks and grades, click Options > Unshare - Back to private marking

Step 2: Align

  1. When all graders have shared their marks and grades, the option to align will appear in the upper menu. Click Align.
  2. The Grader workflow page will open. If a conflict is found, you can alter your grades within the Align page.
  3. When all marks and grades are aligned, the status in the upper menu changes to Alignment completed. To complete the alignment stage, click Confirm.

Step 3: Confirm

  1. When all graders have aligned their marks and grades, the option to confirm will appear in the upper menu. Click Confirm.
  2. The Grader Workflow page will open. To confirm marks and grades, click Confirm now.

 

Workflow for graders

This section will provide an in-depth overview of the Workflow page that opens for graders when they choose to share, confirm and align.

Share

Sharing your grades with fellow co-graders is the first stage in aligning marks after you've settled on a grade for a candidate.

On the Share page, you can do the following:

  • Share your grades with co-graders
  • See which graders you are about to share with

After clicking Share with co-graders now, you are given the success message Shared.

 

Align 

Aligning your marks with fellow co-graders is the second step in aligning marks.

On the Align page, you can do the following:

  • Click the All candidates tab for candidate overviews.
  • Click the Conflicts found tab for conflict overviews.
  • Manually set a grade by selecting the grade dropdown. 

Conflict 

In the Conflicts found tab, you can view other graders' marks on Align page and adjust your grade directly on the Workflow page if needed. 

 

Confirm

Confirming your marks with fellow co-graders is the last step in aligning marks.

On the Confirm page, you can do the following:

  • Click the All candidates tab for candidate overviews.
  • Click the Incomplete marking tab for an overview of incomplete marks.
  • Click the Not graded tab for an overview of candidates that are not graded.
  • Manually set a grade by selecting the grade dropdown.
