Learning Tools Interoperability® (LTI®) is a protocol defined by IMS, that standardizes the communication between different learning tools, usually initiated by the LMS/VLE (Learning Management System/Virtual Learning Environment. In this documentation the term LMS will be used to represent both LMS and VLE.

The features described in this documentation have been tested in five different LMS (Moodle, Canvas, D2L, Blackboard and Sakai), but should work in all LMS that support LTI 1.3.
