When taking a test in Inspera Assessment (IA) there is a banner on the top of the screen, here called the Candidate Banner. It contains candidate ID or name, information about remaining time and internet connectivity among other things. The candidate banner has looked the same for a long time in IA, but we are now working on refreshing it.

Why update the candidate banner?
The main reasons for this update is to:
- Ensure the time remaining is visible throughout the test, even though the candidate were to lose internet connectivity. - Today the remaining time is hidden when the candidate goes offline.
- Avoid offline warnings causing panic to candidates. - Today the entire banner changes colour when the candidate goes offline.
What will the new candidate banner look like?
There will not be any major changes for the candidate, at least not to begin with. As usual, they will see the candidate ID or name to the upper left, as well as the time remaining for the test. To the upper right is an WiFi symbol, as well as symbol for notification and a menu bar. The notification symbol and the menu bar will work as usual.
Each time the submission is saved, this will be displayed on the right side of the banner.
When there is less than a minute remaining, the time remaining text will turn red to inform the candidate about this.
Loss of internet connectivity
If there were to be a problem with internet connectivity, the images below show what the banner will look like for the candidate in the different steps:
The connectivity status will still be visible to the candidate throughout the test. However, the entire banner will not change colour when the candidate goes offline, something that could lead to an unnecessary panic situation for candidates. Furthermore, the connectivity status will not hide the remaining time.
New test setting - Lost connection alert
With the new candidate banner, there will also be a new Lost Internet Connection alert which can be activated by the planner on specific tests. The message displayed is customisable, but you can also use the default message. The message will be displayed when internet connection has been lost for more than one minute.
We recommend that this alert is used for tests that are not remote, but in a classroom with supervision.
The Lost Connection alert will be activated in the test settings, under the Exam day options.
