Using mark schemes when grading

  • Updated

This is available for Grader and Planner.

A mark scheme is an instruction for a Grader on how to mark a submission. While it is optional, it is a great way to ensure consistent marking. Mark schemes can be added to questions by an Author or in the test settings by a Planner, or in the Grading module by Graders

This article will show you how to download a mark scheme in Marking 2.0, explains how to view mark schemes that have been added to specific questions, and explains how to find and manage a mark scheme in Classic Marking.

Download mark scheme in Marking 2.0

If a mark scheme has been added to a test, you can download it from the options menu in the upper right corner of the Marking module.

  1. Open the test in the Grade module.
  2. Click Options in the upper right corner (1).
  3. Click Mark scheme… under Download (2).
  4. Click Download (3)

  5. To replace the mark scheme, click Replace, or remove it by clicking Remove.

Although it is possible to upload other file types such as Word or Excel, we recommend uploading the mark scheme as PDF.

Mark scheme on questions

In some cases a mark scheme has been added to specific questions by the question Author. These mark schemes will be visible for the Grader in the Marking workspace next to the question.
