In Inspera Assessment, you have the option to archive tests. Archiving a test moves its content to a dedicated Archive space, which is useful for managing completed assessments and maintaining data integrity.
This article explains what test archiving means, details how to move tests to the Archive, and provides instructions on how to find and recover tests from the Archive.
What is test archiving?
When you archive a test, its content is moved to a specific Archive section. The question set that was used in the test is not affected by this action and can still be found under Question Sets.
- Data Integrity: Tests moved to the Archive are never permanently deleted from the system. No users can delete tests from the Archive; they can only be restored. This provides a safety net for your assessment data.
- Read-Only Access: Archived tests are read-only in the user interface. This means that UI functions for editing the test will not be available.
- Integration Compatibility: If any integrations are connected to your Inspera Assessment system, they will still be able to edit the archived test if needed, bypassing the read-only UI.
- Candidate Access: As long as the test is active and visible for students on their Dashboard, archiving the test will not remove the student's current access to the test.

Distinction from Other Content Management
There is a corresponding function for questions and question sets: questions and question sets are placed in Trash, not Archive. (For more details, refer to the moving questions and question sets to Trash article.)
