How to use GeoGebra as an embed code

  • Updated

This article explains how to integrate GeoGebra embed codes and clarifies how candidates interact with these embeds.

Introduction

Authors can use GeoGebra files (GGB files) as embed codes within questions. This allows candidates to interact with dynamic mathematical models, functions, and 3D visualizations directly within their assessment. As an embed code, candidates interact with the GeoGebra model as presented by the author; they cannot make their own changes or insert values unless specifically configured within the GGB file itself.

In the example below, the candidates are able to pull a slider to explore the surface of the cube, or play an animation where the values in the slider change itselfs.

How to add GeoGebra as an embed code

  1. Create a file

First create a your GeoGebra file (GGB file) in GeoGebra Classic App on your device or through one of the applications available at www.geogebra.org

You can also use shared resources already available on geogebra.org, including Classroom Resources, if they suit your needs.

  2. Save the file

Save the GGB file in your user profile at geogebra.org. You must have an account to save files.

The image below shows two ways of saving your file at geogebra.org.

  3. Find the embed code

    1. Go to the Resources section of your user profile on geogebra.org. Click directly on the resource (your saved file or a shared resource) that you want to use. You do not need to open the file in the GeoGebra application.
    2. Access Embed Options by clicking on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner, and choose Details

    3. Next click Share, and then select Embed. Copy the embed code.

The Share menu in GeoGebra with the 'Embed' option selected. A text box contains the HTML embed code ready to be copied.

  4. Add the embed code

In Inspera Assessment, go to the question that you want to insert the embed code to. Click on Main illustration and select Embed code.  Paste the embed code from the resource.

You can insert an embed code in to all of the question types.

Candidate experience

For candidates, the main illustration area will display the GGB file interactively, as shown in the example below.

In the example, the candidates can pull the slider to explore the cube and at the same time answer the question itself. The animation of the model is automatically played, as set by the author the GGB file. The main illustration will be the same size as the resource is displayed at geogebra.org when you tap it directly. Always test the question in preview mode to ensure the GeoGebra embed functions as intended for candidates
