Inspera Assessment offers the option to configure tests with a day password, adding an extra layer of security for test access. The day password is a security measure designed to control access to a test, ensuring that candidates can only open the test after entering a specific password, which is typically distributed on the day of the exam. This feature can be particularly useful in combination with lockdown tests.
This article explains what a day password is, details how to set it up and its behavior, and outlines the candidate's experience when a day password is required.
Set up a Day Password
The setting for a day password can be found in the test options, under the Security section.
There are two main options for setting a day password, each with different behaviors:
- Automatically generated password: If the test is scheduled for more than one day, this password will automatically change each day. Candidates will be prompted for the new password before they can open the test again on a subsequent day.
- Set custom password: This password will remain the same for the entire duration of the test, regardless of whether the test spans multiple days.
If the start and end time of the test fall on the same day, the password will remain the same regardless of which option you use, and the candidate will only be prompted for the password once.
Availability and changing the password
The day password will become available on the front page of the test (visible to planners/invigilators) on the same day as the test's start time.
You can change to a custom password even after the test has started, but only if no candidates have begun the test yet. Once one or more candidates have started the test, the day password is locked for editing.
If there are no candidates in progress, and you change the password, candidates who have already entered the previous password must reload the page and enter the new password to continue.
For enhanced security, use a day password in combination with Inspera Lockdown for Chromebooks. This helps ensure that candidates cannot open the test unless they are physically in the exam room where the password is distributed, as it provides an additional layer of verification upon entry.
