How to use mark schemes for question grading

A mark scheme provides clear instructions and guidelines for Graders to use during the grading process. You can add a mark scheme to any question, ensuring consistent and fair evaluation. 

This article explains how to create a mark scheme and how it appears to Graders.

This feature requires activation. Please contact the Service Desk to activate it for your Inspera Assessment tenancy.

How to create a mark scheme

  1. In the general options on the right, click Mark scheme.

  2. Click Create new.
  3. Name your mark scheme in the top-left area and write the grading instructions and guidelines in the main text area.
  4. In the section to the right, you will see a preview of what the mark scheme will look like for the Grader. Click Save to update this preview.

  5. Click Done in the top-right corner when you have finished.

How mark schemes appear to Graders

Once a mark scheme is created and associated with a question, it will be clearly visible to the grader within the grading tool. It provides them with the structured guidance you have defined for evaluating candidate responses.
