How to manage sections in Question sets

  • Updated

You can organize a question set by dividing it into sections. This article explains the general management options for sections, such as editing their name or deleting them, and details the available layout options that control how questions are displayed for candidates.

Managing sections

A section is defined as a group of questions within a question set.

These options allow you to perform basic management tasks for sections:

    • Add new section: Click Add section and type in your desired name.

    • Rename section: Click the Options menu (three dots) next to the section, select Rename, and enter the new title.

    • Move section: Click the Options menu (three dots) next to a section and select Move up, Move down, Move to top, or Move to bottom.
    • Delete section: Click the Options menu (three dots) next to the item you want to delete and select Remove
  • section1.png
    • edit.png Edit name of the section: You can change the name of any section.
    • trash.png Delete section: This removes the section from the question set. The questions within the section are not deleted; they are only removed from the question set and can be re-added later.
    • drag_and_drop.png Drag and drop: You can move a section by dragging and dropping it to a new position within the question set.

Section layout options

This feature allows you to alter how the question set is displayed for candidates. The default layout is one question per page. You can also add a section stimulus, which is a one-page text area that appears to the left or at the top of each question in the section.

This feature requires activation. Please contact the Service Desk to activate it for your Inspera Assessment tenancy.

  1. To enable the section layout, click on Layout and Stimulus selection.

Layout options

Layout without stimulus:

  • Basic layout- one screen per question: Displays one question per page.
  • Vertical layout all questions on one screen: Displays all questions in the section on a single continuous page.

Layout with stimulus:

  • Basic layout with left stimulus: Presents one question per page, with a stimulus displayed to the left of the question.
  • Vertical layout with left stimulus: Displays all questions on one page, with a stimulus to the left.
  • Vertical layout with top stimulus: Displays all questions on one page, with a stimulus at the top. Note that this option is only suitable for a stimulus containing three to five lines of text. Any text exceeding five lines could interfere with the question view.

For layouts with stimulus, the Author can resize the stimulus. The size is reflected as a percentage. The Author can also allow candidates to resize the stimulus themselves. It's recommended to verify these settings in a preview.
