Our May release is now live!
We are delighted to share the latest updates and improvements to Inspera Assessment, Inspera Proctoring and Inspera Originality. As always, this and all previous release notes can be found on our Help Center.
Speaking of which, a reminder that we recently refreshed the Inspera Help Center! Launched on Saturday, April 18th, these changes created dedicated sections for Inspera Assessment and Inspera Originality to help you find relevant answers faster, and include refreshed articles and a more intuitive category layout. While the look and feel are changing, our URL structure is staying the same. All your existing bookmarks and deep links will continue to work perfectly.
Inspera Assessment
New navigation in the marking workspace
We have introduced a set of marking navigation options for graders in the marking workspace. These new filters allow greater flexibility in marking horizontally or vertically, even where randomisation and candidate selected questions are enabled.
Currently these new options are not switched on by default. Your graders will not see them unless you choose to activate them. While extremely useful and helpful to graders, we appreciate that they are a change so we are currently allowing existing customers to decide when to switch them on and make the change. We will give you notice before we intend to make these the default options in all tenancies
If you have a test tenancy, you may wish to switch these new navigation options on in there to familiarise yourself with them. We encourage you to do so. Using them will save your graders time in navigating through candidates, questions or both.
Further details can be found in two new help centre articles
Inspera Integrity Browser / Inspera Resilience Proctoring
Greater flexibility on ID checks
Following customer feedback, we appreciate that some institutions do not want the threshold for the automated identification check at the start of a Resilience Proctoring session to be set as high as 90%. The current configuration is such that if a 90% match is not made, the candidate is prevented from starting their exam. This will remain the default behaviour if ID checks are enabled.
However, through a service desk request, you can change this to allow the candidate to proceed even if the 90% threshold has not been met. A confidence score for the remainder of the exam will still be produced.
Note, this will not be enabled by default. The 90% threshold will remain unless you ask via our service desk to switch on the override across your tenancy.
Exempting candidates from lockdown and proctoring
Where a candidate is enrolled in a test that has Inspera Integrity Browser and Inspera Resilience Proctoring enabled, they can be exempted from both being locked down and proctored by a user with correct permissions through a single click in the monitor view.
Inspera Originality
Applicable to all versions and integrations of Inspera Originality
-
Improved offline report
Following customer feedback, we have made a number of improvements to create a new offline report with richer insights. At the top of the document, you will find contextual information to accompany the risk or score assigned to a submission. We have also added an appendix where each aspect of the submission that has been flagged is shown with their accompanying findings.
This provides you with a single offline source that contains all of the necessary information to conduct an investigation.
-
Improved cross institution matching information
Where cross-institution matching is enabled and a match is found between a submission and a document in another archive, we have improved the text that appears to make it more meaningful. This will give you better insights into the match and help your decision making.
Applicable in the web application (Accessed via https://app-originality.inspera.com) only
-
Order of inputs
Following customer feedback, we have changed the order in which you input data on screen when adding subjects, educators and students to improve the efficiency of the task at hand.
-
Improved timestamps
Submissions are now stamped with a time as well as a date for improved accuracy
-
Administrator views and filters
Administrators will now be able to customise the screen to include more data points. At the same time, we have improved the filters available to administrators. Both give you greater control of your data and insights to improve efficiency.
-
New resubmit failed documents button
We have added a ‘resubmit’ button to the administrator view where a document has failed to process. This is also available in our integrations, but gives you another place to quickly resubmit documents that have not been processed.
-
Comment on content access
Where cross-institution access is enabled and a match is found, an administrator can leave a comment when they decided to grant or deny permission to view the matching document. This provides an important audit trail for institutions and context to accompany decisions.
Applicable to the Inspera Originality / Inspera Assessment integration only
-
Translation matching can’t be saved in a template
Note: This will be activated on all tenancies on Tuesday 19th May, and not part of the release on Sunday 10th May.
We are making a change to the Inspera Originality settings that can be saved in an Inspera Assessment template. This change means translation similarity can not be saved as “activated” on a test template. We will also be removing it from existing templates, regardless of the date of creation. All other Inspera Originality settings will still be available to be saved in a test template. Additionally, translation similarity can be activated on a test by test basis.
Settings for assessments created from a test template prior to 9th May will not be changed. Assessments created after the 9th will reflect this change. From Tuesday 19th May, this change will be reflected in the test template user interface.
All of the settings available for Inspera Originality in Inspera Assessment can be found here: Integration settings
Early Access
A reminder of our Early Access Programmes. Early Access allows you to try out new capabilities before they enter General Release. They can only be activated on a test tenancy and can not be used on real assessments.
To participate in an Early Access Programme, please contact your Account Manager directly.
These programmes are not handled by our Service Desk.
Grading Workflows - Early Access
Grading Workflows allow customers to design their own unique workflow, ensuring that submissions will be allocated to the relevant graders / moderators as required. The ultimate goal is for Grading Workflows to handle all workflows, removing the need for spreadsheets.
Grading Workflows also comes with a new Grader and Group allocation UI as well as a new progress dashboard so Planners can get a true overview of how grading is progressing.
Grading Workflows is an enormous and ongoing piece of work that involves changing some existing Inspera functionality. This is still a work in progress, but in the coming months we will continue to polish and add new functionality.
To get involved, provide feedback and map Grading Workflows to your institutional approach, contact your account manager.
New Author - Early Access
Our new authoring environment builds upon all the rich capabilities of our current authoring tool. With a host of new features and insights when authoring questions and question sets, you can enhance and innovate, improve efficiency and ultimately the student experience.
To get involved and provide feedback, contact your account manager.
Drawing Question Type (New Author) - Early Access
Early this year, we promoted our new drawing tool which allows candidates to draw and annotate within our other question types. This new Question Type makes the drawn submission the primary method of submission.
Educators can add images and text as a background canvas, which serves as a starting point for candidates. These images can be locked to prevent them from being moved, or unlocked to allow candidates to interact with the pre-uploaded image.
This new question type is only available if an institution is also participating in the new New Author early access programme.
To get involved and provide feedback, contact your account manager.
