How to edit Rubrics

Once you have created a rubric in Inspera Assessment, you can easily modify its various elements to ensure it perfectly aligns with your assessment needs. 

This article provides instructions on editing rubric titles, criteria, levels of performance, changing the order of levels, and using advanced options for rows and columns.

Edit titles

You can edit the following titles directly within the Rubrics editor:

  • Rubrics title (the overall name of the rubric)
  • Criterion title (the name of each row)
  • Level of performance title (the name of each column)

To edit any of these titles, simply hover over it and click. Changes made to your titles are automatically saved once you click away from the editor.

Edit criteria

You can change a criterion's maximum number of points, as well as its header and descriptions.

  • To add a new criterion, click Criterion + at the top of the page.
  • To edit the criterion's maximum points, hover over the row header and click the maximum points value to edit.
  • To edit the criterion's description, click the relevant cell to bring up the rich text editor.

Changes made to your criteria are automatically saved once you click away from the editor.

Add levels of performance

To add a new level of performance (a column for describing achievement), click Level of performance + at the top of the page.

Change order of levels

You can modify the order of your Levels of performance within the rubric.

  1. At the top of the page, navigate to the Order of levels dropdown.
  2. Choose between the following options:
    • Mark descending from left
    • Mark ascending from left

Use options for rows and columns

You can find additional management options within the Options menu, typically located in the Criteria or Level of performance header. These options allow you to perform actions such as:

  • Add row/column before
  • Add row/column after
  • Duplicate row/column
  • Remove row/column
