Inspera Assessment allows Authors to share and collaborate on questions and question sets. This article clarifies the collaboration model, details the correct procedures for exiting questions and question sets to prevent issues, and explains the lockout behavior that can occur from an incorrect exit.
Understanding the collaboration model
Inspera Assessment allows Authors to collaborate on questions and question sets. However, it does not offer real-time collaboration. This means that only one Author can work on content at a time. To ensure that changes made by one Author are not accidentally overwritten by another, a question or question set must be closed by one Author before another can make any modifications to it.
Correct exit procedures
To prevent issues and ensure a smooth workflow for all collaborators, it's crucial to exit questions and question sets correctly.

Lockout behavior
A lockout can occur if an Author exits a question or question set in another way, for example, by closing the browser window or logging off without exiting correctly first.
If this happens, it will take up to 45 minutes before another Author can make any changes to any question in that specific question set. This lockout mechanism is in place to ensure that work is not accidentally overridden and that the integrity of the content is maintained.
