Set up Planner-managed groups (Group submission)

After enabling Group Submission for a test, Planners can set up and manage groups automatically or manually.

You can create and manage groups in three ways: by randomizing candidates into groups automatically, by manually assigning candidates to pre-defined empty groups, or by importing group from CSV.

Create groups and add candidates randomly (Automatic)

This option allows you to specify the number of groups and candidates per group, with candidates then randomized and distributed evenly.

  1. After choosing group submission in the test settings, sleect the option Create groups and add candidates randomly.
  2. Assign a Number of groups and Candidates per group.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Optionally, name your groups. Candidates that are successfully added to a group will be indicated with an asterisk (*).

Create empty groups and add candidates manually (Manual)

This option lets you specify the number of groups without automatically assigning candidates.

  1. After choosing group submission in the test settings, select the option Create empty groups and add candidates manually to each group.
  2. Assign a Number of groups.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Optionally, name your groups and click Save.
  5. Within the Candidates page, select your candidates to assign to a group.
  6. Click Group membership.
  7. Assign a group to your selected candidates > Click Update. Candidates that are successfully added to a group will be indicated with an asterisk (*).

Create groups by importing from CSV

A CSV file can be used to import a group submission. This is particularly useful for Planners who need to establish and change groups by importing datasets with group information. This option has a separate article for more information.

  1. After choosing group submission in the test settings, select the option Import group from CSV.
  2. Then click Continue.
  3. Upload the CSV file.
  4. The specific format for importing a group CSV file will be: groupName, candidate_id. It is important to note that the CSV file should not contain a header row.
