Set up candidate-created groups (Group submission)

This is available for Planners.

Inspera Assessment offers the flexibility for candidates to create and manage their own groups for group submissions. This allows for self-organization, where candidates create their own groups and invite others to join.

This article explains how you can enable candidates to create groups (both open and password-protected), describes the candidate's initial experience with these groups, and details important information on managing groups.

Enabling candidate-created groups

As a Planner, you can enable candidates to create groups directly in the test settings. After choosing this option, no further action is necessary on your behalf for the basic setup.

There are two options to choose from:

  • Enable candidates to create open groups

Choosing this option allows candidates to create their own open groups.

When candidates begin their test, they're prompted to either Join existing group or Create new group.

    • Create new group will prompt the candidate to create a four-digit Group ID.
    • Join existing group will prompt the candidate to join a group, using an existing four-digit Group ID.
  • Enable candidates to create password protected groups

Choosing this option allows candidates to create their own password-protected groups. The process for creating a secure, candidate-managed group is the same as for open groups, with one key difference:

Password protection: After the candidate creates their four-digit PIN (Group ID), an automated password is generated. This password is only accessible to existing group members and, together with the four-digit PIN, is required for other candidates to join the group.

Important notes for Planners managing candidate-created groups

When candidates manage their own groups, Planners cannot make changes in the groups at any point through the standard group management interface.

However, Planners can enable the following options for candidates after a test is completed:

  •
    1. Planners must first open for late submission on the test.
    2. Then, they must open for resubmission for the group. This allows candidates to join and leave the group as if the test was still open, and it also gives them full access to the test again.
    3. Once the candidate has joined the correct group (which you can verify in Monitor), close for resubmission.
    4. When asked, choose Deliver current, and all candidates in the group will now have Submitted status.
    5. Finally, the Planner must close for late submission on the test.

    2. Wait for the candidate to create a new group.
    3. Once the candidate is part of a group (visible in Monitor), you can open resubmission for that candidate. In group submissions, candidates have to be a part of a group for resubmission to work.
    4. Next step:
      • If the test has automatic delivery: Wait for the candidate to submit and close resubmission. Choose Deliver current when asked, and the candidate will now have status Submitted.
      • If the test does not have automatic delivery: Once the candidate has submitted, you will have to close resubmission. Choose Deliver current when asked, and the candidate will now have status Submitted.
    5. Finally, the Planner must close for late submission on the test.
