Configuring grading for an Assessment Path in Inspera Assessment allows for a comprehensive evaluation of candidates across multiple tests.
This article explains the recommended approach for grading when multiple Graders are assigned, details the settings for grading on the parent level, outlines the different final result calculations and evaluation types, and describes the outcomes of these settings.
Grading
When multiple Graders are assigned to tests within an Assessment Path, it's recommended that each Grader aligns points rather than grades at the test level.
- This approach ensures the overall grade for the Assessment Path is calculated accurately while preserving individual performance information for each test.
- It also allows evaluations to happen at the right stage, with graders who have the required subject matter expertise evaluating specific individual tests.
Grading on parent
You can choose whether to grade Assessments as a whole by enabling or disabling Grading on parent. Enabling this option provides additional settings:
- Explanations: You can enable the administration of explanations, with options to request explanations, allow graders to send explanations directly to candidates, and set a deadline for explanations.
-
Main evaluation type: Choose the evaluation type for the final result of the Assessment Path as a whole. You can select either Grade or Points.
-
Grade: A Grade will be used as a final result for the assessment path.
When selecting Grade, you have the option to select a grading scale for the Assessment as a whole and configure thresholds to allow automatic grading.
-
Points: The total points earned by a candidate on the Assessment as a whole would be used as their final score, and it is not converted into an equivalent grade. The final score is calculated based on the method chosen in Calculation of points.
When selecting Points, the grading scale and thresholds are disabled.
-
- Manual marking: You can choose to have manual marking Disabled or Enabled.
Setting final result
Calculation of points
When setting the final result, you can choose whether points will be calculated based on the total points, or test weight.
- Sum of points: The final result will be based on the sum of achieved points across all tests of the assessment.
- Test weight: The final result will be based on the achieved points on all tests and will be weighted by given test weights. The weights are expressed as % and sum up to 100%.
Threshold values
You can use Threshold values to calculate the final grade.
Main evaluation type Grade scale Calculation of points Threshold value Outcome Grade Selected Total points or Test weight Enabled With Thresholds Enabled, grades are automatically calculated based on the threshold values and the total sum of points the candidate has been given on the tests (or) Grades are automatically calculated based on the threshold values and the points the candidate has been given on the tests calculated with the test weights.
- The grader can override the calculated grades given to the candidates.
- The grader can update the threshold values and apply them again.
- The grader must confirm the grading based on the selected grading workflow.
Grade Selected Total points or Test weight Disabled With Thresholds Disabled, Graders will have to manually add final grades to the candidates.
- The grader has to manually set a grade on the candidates based on the results given on the tests and the total sum of points given on the whole Assessment path (or) The grader has to manually set a grade on the candidates based on the results given on the tests and the points given on whole Assessment path calculated with given test weights.
- The grader must confirm the grading based on the selected grading workflow.
Manage tests
Within Manage tests, you have an overview of all the tests in the Assessment Path.
Columns within Manage tests:
- Name: Test name.
- Status: Test status activity (e.g., Active, Created, Scheduled, Locked, Executing, Finished, Deleted, Archived, Graded).
- Grading scale: The test's grading scale.
- Points: Overview of test points.
- Test weight: If Test weight is selected within Calculation of points (as configured in Final Result Setting), you can manually set the test weight here.
- Actions: You can perform various actions for each test, including View in Deliver, View in Monitor, View in Marking, and Remove.
If Test weight is enabled, you have the option to set the Test weights to Equal test weight.
