Candidate experience with One-Way Navigation

One-Way Navigation in Inspera Assessment significantly impacts the candidate's experience during a test by enforcing a linear progression through questions.

This article explains how One-Way Navigation works for candidates, details the alerts they receive when skipping or submitting questions, and clarifies its interaction with randomized questions.

How One-Way Navigation works for candidates

Enabling the One-Way Navigation feature ensures that candidates cannot navigate back to previous test questions. Once you answer a question and move forward, you won't be able to revisit earlier questions. If you attempt to skip a question without providing a response and move forward, you will receive an alert.

Skipping a question/Submitting a blank response

If you attempt to skip a question, you will be given the following prompt, notifying you that revisiting the skipped question is not possible.

Please be aware that this prompt cannot be automatically dismissed by any do not show me again setting. This intentional design prevents candidates from accidentally submitting unanswered questions, ensuring a deliberate and informed decision when skipping a question.

Submitting a Response

When you answer a question and attempt to move forward, you will receive a prompt confirming your action, reminding you that this test uses One-Way Navigation.

Once you've submitted your response and moved on, you will not be able to return to this question.
