Candidate dashboard for a Multiple Attempts test

This article explains the candidate's experience when taking a multiple attempts test, including what they will see on their dashboard before, during, and after an attempt. It is a helpful guide for Planners who want to know what the candidate will see.

The candidate's dashboard

The candidate's dashboard is where candidates will start and continue their multiple attempts test. They will see the overall test window before they try to attempt the test, and the attempt's time window when they have decided to attempt the test. The dashboard will also show the candidate when a new attempt is available or if they do not have any more attempts to take.

Maximum number of attempts example

In this example candidate dasboard, the candiate can see the total number of attempts they have. This is for tests that are set up with a maximum number of attempts. It is a common practice for automatically marked question type tests. In this example the Planner has set the Multiple Attempts settings to candidate control, which allows the candidate to take a new attempt at the test at their own pace. This test has set the final results criteria to use highest score.

  • The candidate can see the upcoming attempt in the Upcoming tests tab.

  • The candidate can see the previous attempts.

  • By clicking View more details, the candidate can access the details for the attempts taken. The first example image is for a test with marks only. The second example image is a test with grades.

Performance-based progression example

If performance-based progression is enabled by choosing the option I want to specify attempt time windows and Grader control in the test setup, the candidate will be notified that they have made a submission and that it is being evaluated. The candidate will then see when a new attempt is available or if they do not have any more attempts to take. This is a common practice especially with manually marked question types like essay.

  • The candidate can see that the attempt is being graded.
  • The candidates test has been graded, and they have no more attempts.
