Threshold values in Inspera Assessment can be adjusted after their initial setup. Planners may need to change threshold values to adjust grading distributions or to accommodate updates in a question set. These changes can be made before the test starts, as well as after the test has started but before grading is confirmed.
This article explains how to manage changes to threshold values before a test starts, details where to make changes after a test has begun, and clarifies the implications of updating thresholds in a test.
How to manage changes before a test starts
The behavior of threshold values when a linked question set is updated or changed before a test starts is a configurable setting for your account. If you want to change the default setting for your account, please contact the Service Desk.
You can choose from two different options:
- Keep threshold values if maximum marks in the question set has not changed: This is the default setting. As long as the maximum marks in the question set remain the same as in the previous version, any changes in the mark distribution will be kept. The existing threshold values will not be reset.
- Reset threshold values to default when question set is updated or changed: This is an optional setting. This option will automatically reset the threshold values to their original default distribution every time a change in the question set is detected and applied to the test. This applies to all changes, even minor ones.
How to manage changes after a test starts
After a test has finished, Planners and Graders can change threshold values from two primary locations:
- You can adjust threshold values where they were originally set.
- Open the test in the Deliver module.
- Navigate to Assessment settings.
- Adjust the values here.
- Threshold values can also be changed directly from within the grading tool.
-
Marking 2.0 grading tool: You can adjust threshold values by clicking on Options in the upper right corner, and then selecting Threshold values under Settings.
-
