Taking a test with Mandatory Questions

  • Updated

What are Mandatory Questions?

On some tests, your institution may require you to answer certain questions before you can submit your answers. These are called "Mandatory questions".

This is often used to make sure essential information is collected, for example, the language or other details when submitting a thesis.

You must provide an answer to all mandatory questions to be able to submit your test.

How to identify a Mandatory Question

You will be able to see which questions are mandatory in two places:

On the question page: The Mandatory questions will be clearly marked:

In the Table of Contents If your test has a Table of Contents, mandatory questions will be marked there so you can easily find them.

Submitting your test

On the Submission page you any unanswered Mandatory questions will be highlighted.

If time runs out and you have NOT answered all Mandatory questions you will NOT BE ABLE TO SUBMIT. This also applies if your test is set up with autosubmit.

If your institution allows "Submit blank" or "Withdraw", this can still be done without answering Mandatory questions
