Educators in Inspera Originality can create new assignments through the Add Units menu in their account. Currently, educators can create and configure two types of assignments.
- Assignment Submission – This is the default assignment type where students upload documents. Educators can configure originality settings to check for potential plagiarism.
- Code Similarity – This assignment type is specifically designed for code submissions. Students upload code files, which are then analyzed for similarity against other submissions within the same assignment.
The availability of certain features or options during assignment configuration depends on whether they have been enabled at the institutional level by an administrator.
For more information, see Manage System Settings.

Excluded Source Criteria Define the threshold percentage for excluding matching sources from the Originality Report. For example, setting the percentage to 5% will automatically exclude any sources with a match percentage below 5%. Anonymous Submissions Enable the anonymization of the assignment submission process. When enabled, student submission details will be hidden from the Educator interface. Exclude Citations Choose whether or not to exclude citations from the originality check. Submission Word Limit Define the maximum amount of words a submission can contain. Include URLs Enter specific source URLs to check submissions against Exclude URLs Enter specific source URLs to not check submissions against Enable Thresholds Define the percentage at which the Exact Match and Possibly Altered Text classifications take place.
