This is available for Planners and Candidates.
When "Request Originality Report" is selected in the test settings, an Originality Report is generated. This report can be accessed by both Planners and Graders as explained in this article.
The integration between Inspera Originality and Inspera Assessment allows the sharing of Originality Reports for assessments with candidates. Originality checks for assessments apply to Essay and File Upload question types.
This article explains the settings and workflows for sharing Originality Reports with candidates.
Instructions
To share Originality Reports, the "Share Originality Report with Candidates" setting, available under Security options, must be enabled and one of the available options must be selected.
The report will be shared within the Candidate Report, so this setting will only be available if the Enable Candidate Report setting (under General Settings) is selected.
Available options
There are two options for sharing original reports with candidates:
- When marking is confirmed
- When shared by Planner
When Marking is Confirmed
If "When Marking is Confirmed" is selected, the originality report will be automatically available in the Candidate Report once marking is confirmed. If marking is reopened, the report will be no longer available to the candidates until marking is confirmed again.
This is the option selected by default.
When Shared by Planner
Selecting the "When shared by planner" Option allows planners to determine when they want to share originality reports with candidates, as well as which candidates should have access to their originality reports.
Marking being confirmed is a base conditin for this option as the Candidate Report will not be available before that. While marking is not confirmed Planners will not be able to share the report or select the candidates with which the report should be shared.
Managing candidate access to Originality Reports
While marking is not confirmed, the Planner will see the options but not be able to interact with them.
Assuming marking is confirmed, Planners can manage the sharing of originality reports with candidates in the Grading Overview. They can choose to share the reports either all at once or individually. Initially all access is denied.
The Planner can decide to grant or revoke access from any candidate by selecting/unselecting the candidates and then updating the access by clicking (2) "Update Originality Report Access". Only after clicking (2) will the access status be updated. If the Planner wants to reset any unsaved changes, clicking on (5) "Reset" resets everything to the last saved access status.
- Grant access to all candidates: select on the generic check (1) or select each individual checkbox (3) and then click on (2) "Update Originality Report Access"
- Revoke access from all the candidates: unselect the generic check (1) or unselect each individual checkbox (3) and then click on (2)
- Grant access to some candidates: select some of the candidates by checking the corresponding individual checkboxes (3) and then clicking on (2).
- Revoke access from some candidates: unselect some of the candidates by unchecking the corresponding indivual checkboxes (3) and then clicking on (2)
- Grant access to some candidates while revoking access from others: select the individual checkboxes (3) of the candidates that should have access to the reports and unselect the individual checkboxes (3) of the candidates that should not have access to the reports
Meaning of text in (4):
- If the text in (4) says "Access Granted": the corresponding candidate already has access to the report
- If the text in (4) says "Access Denied": the corresponding candidate does not currently have access to the report
- If the text in (4) says "Pending Access": the access to the reports of the correspoding candidate will change when (2) is clicked. If the corresponding checkbox (3) is checked then access is currently denied and is going to be granted. If the corresponding checkbox (3) is unchecked then access is currently granted and is going to be revoked.
In the image above, both candidates had access denied. Then Planner selected the first one by clicking on the corresponding individual checkbox (3) and the text changed to "Pending Access" with the (3) checkbox selected, meaning that when the Planner updates access by clicking on (2), the first candidate will be granted access while the second one will remain with access denied.
Both the buttons (2) "Update Originality Report Access" and (5) "Reset" are only clickable on there is at least one Pending Access. Otherwise there are no needed changes.
Once the Planner clicks on (2) "Update Oritinality Report Access" they will be prompt with a confirmation window to validate if they want to proceed. Confirming updates the access as defined in the previous screen, canceling goes back to the previous screen without saving.
Reopen and reconfirm marking
If for some reason marking is reopened, all report access will be lost (along with the access to the candidate report). Once marking is reconfirmed the previous access status is reinstated, i.e., if a candidate had access to the reports before marking was reopened, their access will granted again and if they did not have access before, they still will not have access after marking is reconfirmed.
If the test is reactivated and new submissions received, the new candidates will not have access to the reports until the Planner grants them access.
Change the test setting
It is possible to change between the options "When marking is confirmed" and "When shared by Planner" at any moment. If the change is done after marking has been confirmed:
- If it is from "When marking is confirmed" to "When shared by planner": All access will be automatically revoked until the Planner decides to share.
- If it is from "When shared by planner" to "When marking is confirmed": All candidates will automatically have access to the reports.
Access the report as a Candidate
When Originality Reports are shared, candidates can access them within the Candidate Report, under the Questions tab:
- column Originality Index shows the risk of the candidate submission for that question not being original. More details on the Originality Index can be found here.
- This may be the originality percentage or the originality risk classification (high/medium/low), depending on the institution settings
- column Originality Report contains the link for the report. It will be presented in view mode.
