1. Introduction

The enhanced integration between Inspera Assessment and Inspera Originality allows Assessment users, namely Administrators, Planners, Graders, and Authors, to perform on-demand originality checks directly from Inspera Assessment. This functionally permits users to upload documents for originality checking and access their originality reports once processed.

2. Usage Workflow

Note: Administrators, Planners, Graders, and Authors share the same workflow for using the functionality, hence we’ll address them simultaneously.

Once logged into Inspera Assessment, users can navigate to the Inspera Originality tab in the top bar navigation.

This will bring uses to a new page specifically designed to upload documents for originality checking. The page features an intuitive layout and user-friendly design, including an upload section as well as a table listing uploads and showing their status.

2.1 Upload Section

Users can click to upload or drag and drop document files for originality checking. Once the files are uploaded, a range of originality checking features will become available for configuration:

Note: The configuration options available to users depend on whether they have been enabled by the Inspera Originality administrator at the institutional level.

Feature Description
Translation Similarity Educators can specify up to three languages to include in the analysis, enabling Inspera Originality to check the upload for translation similarities against sources in those selected languages.
Contextual Similarity Threshold Educators can enable contextual similarity to examine how closely two sentences align in both message and overall context. Even though the administrator has initially set the threshold for contextual similarity, educators can override this default configuration and adjust the threshold to meet their specific needs. Enable AI Prediction Educators can enable the AI Prediction feature to assess the potential for content generated by artificial intelligence in their upload.
Include URLs Specify source URLs to include in the originality-checking process.
Exclude URLs Specify source URLs to exclude from the originality-checking process.
Third-Party Libraries Include third-party libraries in the originality check.
Citation Style Select the preferred citation style for the document.
Thresholds Enabling this option allows administrators to configure the thresholds for the Exact Match and Possibly Altered Text classifications. Even though the administrator has initially set the thresholds for Exact Match and Possibly Altered Text, educators can override this default configuration and adjust the thresholds to meet their specific needs.
