Understanding Similarity Classifications

Similarity Classifications

Inspera Originality classifies flagged sentences according to the degree of similarity detected. These classifications help users understand the reasons behind a sentence being flagged and offer details on the similarity level between document sentences and corresponding matching sources.

To help users differentiate between classifications, Inspera Originality uses the following color-coded highlights.
Exact Match | (Red Highlight)

Sentences identified as exact matches are highlighted in red and are nearly identical to matching sources.

Altered Text | (Blue Highlight)

Sentences flagged as altered text are indicated by a blue highlight and show considerable similarity to the matching sources.

Contextual Similarity | (Orange Highlight)

Sentences that are marked for contextual similarity are highlighted in orange and reveal a considerable level of similarity in context with the sources they correspond to.

Properly Cited | (Green Highlight)

Sentences marked in green signify that they are properly cited within the document. You have the option to turn off these highlights if you prefer a more unobstructed view of your text.

Excluded Sentences | (Grey Highlight)
Sentences shown in grey have been excluded from the Originality Report based on the assessment of the educator. There may be an optional explanation available detailing the reasons for their exclusion if provided.
