Canvas LTI 2 Integration

  • Updated

In this article, you will learn how to set up Inspera Originality in Canvas using LTI 2. LTI, short for Learning Tool Interoperability, is a protocol designed to enable seamless integration of external tools within a Learning Management System (LMS).

1. Introduction

Unlike LTI 1.3, which requires a more detailed configuration process, LTI 2 offers a simpler and more streamlined setup experience. The setup process requires using an LTI 2 Registration URL that is provided by Inspera.

Inspera Originality is seamlessly integrates with Canvas LMS via LTI 2, allowing users to configure courses and assignments directly within Canvas without needing to launch Inspera Originality separately. This provides a smoother, more efficient workflow for educators and students alike, ensuring that originality checking is an integrated part of the assignment process.

3. Add Inspera Originality to New Assignment (LTI 2)

Important

Plagiarism detection should never be enabled in a Canvas (LTI 2) assignment after students have already submitted. If a teacher submits work on a student’s behalf in an assignment where plagiarism detection was originally disabled, certain system actions will not run, and the information will not be sent to Inspera Originality.

We recommend to always check Plagiarism Detection is enabled before students submit.

In a similar situation as to this case, it is best to create a new assignment with Plagiarism Detection enabled and have students resubmit.
