The Originality report displays matching sources on the right side, showing all the sources that resemble the submission. These matching sources are interactive and accessible, allowing users to exclude or reinclude them as needed.
Matching sources are affected by threshold adjustments made during the assignment configuration process. For example, if the threshold is set to 5%, any source with less than 5% similarity will be excluded from the Originality Report.
Components
- Index Number: A unique number assigned to each matching source for easy identification within the originality report.
- Percentage of Similarity: The percentage indicating how similar the document is to the identified source.
- URL of the Source: The web address where the source can be accessed.
- Interaction Buttons: Controls that allow you to exclude or reinclude the source, and filter sources based on your needs.
Filtering Capabilities
Users can also apply filtering capabilities to matching sources by clicking on the three-dot icon.
Private Document Sources
When similarity is found to another student’s document, that document is listed among the matching sources as Source from a private document.
Depending on whether the document is internal or external (belonging to another institution), the following should be noted:
If the document is internal, administrators and educators can view it directly from the Originality Report by clicking the matching source link.
-
If the document is external (belonging to another institution), access for administrators and educators depends on the content access level set by the institution where the document is stored.
- If content access is set to Open, administrators and educators can access he document directly from the Originality Report.
- If content access is set to Restricted, administrators and educators must make an official request to access the document which requires approval by that institutions administrator.
By default, students are prohibited from accessing other students’ documents that appear as matching sources in the Originality Report of their submissions.
