How to format a CSV file in Excel for readability

After downloading a CSV file, for example from monitor containing the candidates needed you may want to convert the file into an easier to read format using Excel.

  1. Open Excel
  2. Find the Data tab and follow the screenshot below.
Data > Get Data > From File > From Text/CSV

  3. Find and select the file and click "Import"
  4.  In the following modal window you can see that the data is correctly formatted already as Excel has detected comma as the separator. If the file is exported from Inspera, select UTF-8 at the top right.
    Click "Load":
  5. We can see that the columns are nicely formatted.

Tip: we allow for multi-value fields in certain columns in CSV exports. Please contact Service Desk for activation.
